The Lead Partner of the Wetland4Change project, the University of Forestry of Sofia is organizing the First Local Event with stakeholders of the Struma River the 23 October 2024 in Blagoevgrad, Hotel Korona, 16 Nikola Vaptsarov Str.
Why Attend? This meeting is an opportunity for local stakeholders—including municipality board members, local authorities, wetland experts, and academics—to:
- Discover the Wetland4Change project and its initiatives.
- Learn about the critical role wetlands play in flood regulation and carbon sequestration.
- Share insights and help shape a regional vision for wetlands as tools for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The objectives of the project is to raise awarness on the importance of wetlands and their utility to regulate floods and sequester carbon.
The event will also gather initial perspectives on how stakeholders view the role of wetlands in addressing climate challenges.
