Interreg Euro-MED - Wetland4Change
This project seeks to validate transferable solutions based on wetland conservation and restoration for climate adaptation and mitigation by enhancing the adoption of science-based knowledge and governance mechanism.
This will accelerate the capacities of wetland managers and policy makers to deal with the climate crisis at the local and international levels.
Wetland4Change started in January 2024 and will end up in June 2026 with a duration of 33 months.
Focus
Two wetland-based technologies for carbon sequestration and flood control are planned to be evaluated and verified in five pilot locations across five countries (BG, ES, FR, GR, IT). Wetland4Change aims at validating transferable solutions based on wetland conservation and restoration for climate adaptation and mitigation, in order to enhance the capacities of policymakers in the Euro-Med region to address the climate crisis at both local and territorial levels
To reinforce this, a dynamic, user-oriented transfer plan driven by knowledge rooted in science will be created; this plan will be closely related to the long-term possibility of cross-border cooperation.
